ManxGP IoM – Aug 25th – Day 7 – Blog by Alan Boyter Vendetta Racing

This morning wasn’t too stressed as we had such a successful day yesterday. We started off with a drive round the circuit in the car so Steve could look at some corners in more detail. The sun was shining again and it was good to hear a running commentary of every corner, it really puts it into perspective how much concentration is required to race round this circuit.

Steve has also done his homework, not only can he name every corner but he knows braking markers and turn in points, be it a window in someone’s house, a drain pipe on a roof or a white painted stone on a wall, everything can be used as a marker for guidance.

Steves first practice with bike #1

Today is the day we made the shift to the number 1 bike which was almost ready to go apart from fabricating a seat hump as there are certain parts of the track where its so bumpy at speed you need to brace yourself in the seat. With that done we checked over the practice bike, making sure the radiator is still ok and removed the intermediate tyres, should we need them.  The weather report is good for the next 3 days so fingers crossed.

Steve achieves his fastest flying lap at 103mph

A great practice run today, Steve managed to break the 100mph barrier with a out lap of 102.9 mph average and a flying lap of 103.1, We had the on-board camera rigged up (Watch VIDEOS here ) and there was quite a lot of traffic slowing him up so there is more speed to come. Its quite clear that he’s getting on fine with the new bike setup.

Wag pulls off 114mph - hes been here competing just a few times...

Wag did a personal best too with a 114.1mph average, that’s a sub 20 minute lap!  good news for the Bedford Ducks Cross Racing boys.

As we were out in the early group, I checked over the bike ready for tomorrow and we finished the day with proper fish and chips, excellent!

A Toy story...ahhhh

Note about piglet.  Piglet belongs to Umpa Lumpa (Karen) and tends to go anywhere there is extreme sports.  He has dived to 50 meter’s (not including diving to the bottom of various pint glasses, sky dived, climbed mountains, Australian Safari (motorbikes), desert challenge, horse jumping, extreme motocross and soon a lap of the TT course.  he’s a fussy piggy so he’s only been round the course in the car so far and is not interested in practice laps so he’s waiting for next week’s race. Hates apple sauce..

Jason’s advice of the day: Blink
