CPD: On the last season what are your comments?
Looking back on the 2010/2011 season there were lots of highs and sadly far too many lows, but as a team we really couldn’t have asked for more. To finish 2nd and 3rd in the UAE Sportbike championship is without a doubt the highlight of the teams history to date.
CPD: What machines will you be racing on this coming season?
The Triumph 675’s have done us proud and although they are not the fastest bikes on the grid they are definitely the lightest and have proven to be very reliable over the last 2 years we’ve had them, but they have been thrashed (and crashed) relentlessly for that 2 years and would need work if they were to stay reliable.
CPD: Did you consider moving to the 1000c class?
For a while we looked into moving up into the 1000cc class but to build 2 bikes from scratch takes a lot of work and the current costs of racing are just too restrictive.
CPD: What about the new Triumph 675R ?
Yeah we also looked at the latest Triumph machine, the 675R, its the newer version of what we have but with lots of race goodies as standard, Ohlins suspension front and rear, Brembo brakes and a quick shifter to name but a few, its basically ready to race out of the box.
In the end we decided that the bikes we currently have are a known entity and we know their capabilities so the decision was made to keep what we have but refresh all the necessary parts back to as new.
CPD: And whats the plan for the remainder of the summer?
For the majority of the summer break the bikes have been sitting in bits while the engines, rear shocks, steering dampers, forks, and all bearings have been inspected, parts replaced and rebuilt. The rebuild will finish in the next couple of weeks and hopefully we’ll have them on a shake down track day at the Dubai Autodrome shortly, the last thing to finalise is a new paint job.
CPD: And what about sponsors for next season?
Unfortunately our previous sponsor cannot commit to the new season with us so we are currently searching for a new title sponsor for the 2011/2012 season. If anyone is interested in supporting the team they can contact us at info@vendettaracinguae.com
