Dubai, Feb 10th 2013 – Formula Gulf 1000  (fg1000.net) charges over to Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi on the 15th February to do battle in Rounds 9 & 10 of the regions premier single-seater championship.

In a first for this highly competitive National championship racing will take place during the Friday evening under the bright lights used for Formula One events.

This season has been dominated by the experienced 19 year old Natasha Seatter (www.natasharacing.com) until the last event when 16 year old Rahul Mayer (www.rahulrajmayer.com), who also flies from Malaysia for the events, scored his first race victory and set the fastest lap.

Nick Canal leads Haytham Sultan through the hotel complex during the last round

But they wont have it easy as it is the fast improving 18 year old Nick Canal (www.nickcanalracing.com) who has qualified on pole position at all four of the previous events and has been on the podium after every race.

The outcome of having all drivers race GulfSport’s identical single seater Formula cars is that lap times are now so close that the race winner is determined by who makes the least mistakes. So for less experienced drivers like Haytham Sultan, Saeed Bintouq and Harsh Rajpal the opportunity to get on the podium is real.

Everyone is waiting to see what speed Weiron Tan can bring

To make things even more interesting this event will see the first appearance of 19 year old Weiron Tan (www.weirontan.com) who could put a spanner in the works for the established drivers. Weiron is yet another up-and-coming Malaysian driver who notably was supported by the Air Asia Caterham Driver Development Program and is using Formula Gulf 1000 to help get him on the pace for the upcoming 2013 Formula Renault Championship in the UK.

The high quality of training and facilities for ambitious young racing drivers in the UAE is clearly being recognized.
