Bahrain: Action-packed second round of the Bahrain Drag Racing Championship

BIC, Sakhir – Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) hosted an action-packed second round of the 2018/2019 Bahrain Drag Racing Championship over the weekend, with four local talents rising to the occasion and claiming fine victories.

Bahrainis Hani Hussain, Nawaf Almanai, Hussain Akbar and Mohamed Al Taitoon all triumphed in the hotly contested meeting. Hussain claimed first place in the Pro Mod category, Almanai won the Super Street 6-Cylinder class, Akbar clinched first place in the Super Street V8 and Al Taitoon won the Street Fight Bikes.

The winning quartet were among a whopping 152 participants from all across the region who flocked to “The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East” to duel down BIC’s NHRA-sanctioned strip.

Hussain was the top finisher in the Pro Mod class after beating Kuwait’s Suleman Alfadhel in the final. Hussain had a time of 4.090 seconds to clinch the win, whereas Alfadhel faced some trouble and finished with an 18.732s mark.

In the Super Street 6-Cylinder, Almanai won with a 7.243s final pass. He defeated Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Hussain, who clocked a time of 7.881s.

Akbar also had a narrow win in the Super Street V8 final, where he went against countryman Khalid Ahmed. Akbar posted a time of 4.446s in his run, beating Ahmed who had a 4.755s mark.

For Al Taitoon, his win in the Street Fight Bikes came after outgunning Saudi’s Mohamed Al Doseri. Al Taitoon went for a 12.461s run while Al Doseri completed his pass in 13.927s.

Elsewhere in the round, several Kuwaiti drivers were successful in taking the top step on their respective podium.

Bader Dashti won in the Outlaw FWD class against Bahrain’s Jassim Ali, Jassim Zaman triumphed in the Outlaw 6-Cylinder against Emirati Faisal Abdulla, and Mohammed Suleman claimed the Street V8 win after beating Bahraini Ali Aljawder. Sayed Hussain Alhadad was victorious in the Index 8.5 class after going against Saudi’s Jassim Mohammed in the final, and Bader bin Eidan triumphed in the Street Bikes category after beating compatriot Ahmed Alarrouj.

The Saudi contingent was almost just as successful as the Kuwaitis, with four winners emerging on the night. Nabeel Al Isa won the Outlaw 10.5 category against Kuwaiti Mohammed Qassim, while Ali Abdulrahman followed suit with a win in the Index 10.5 class after going against Bahrain’s Ala Abdulla Yousif in the final. Mohammed Jawad triumphed in the Index 9.5 division after beating Bahraini Yousif Khamiri, while Mishari Alturki was the top man amongst all the participants in the Super Street Bikes. He beat Kuwait’s Meshari Al Mari in the final.

The other winner on the night was Abdulmajed Hussain from the UAE, who was competing in the Competition 4.5 class. He beat out Bahrain’s Mohammed bu Saylom in the final.

The season’s second meeting followed the hugely exciting first round held last month. The event was the last action for the calendar year in the series. The 2018/2019 campaign features five rounds in all, ensuring plenty of action until early March of next year. Round three will be from January 15 to 19, round four from February 19 to 23, and then the championship finale will be held from February 26 to March 2.

Perez is Magnussen's Kryptonite

The Stewards determined that the manoeuvre by Perez met the definition of driving “unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner which could be deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers” and therefore ordered a reprimand.

Am glad Checo gave Magnussen a dose of one's own medicine!

Bring back memories where perez slammed into Sirotkin.. so talented!

Perez driving slow, looked over, drove deliberately in front of magnussen. Starts his lap. Complains about his own actions. People is saying karma. If this was your precious Hamilton it would have been a different view right? Or max, or leclerc. Yes I thought so.

Love Singapore track, lots of action💪🏁Forza Ferrari🇮🇹

No sane F1 driver, on a warm-up lap, would try to pass another driver also on a warm-up lap on the outside in the run down to the last corner as both cars were about to begin a lap. That's the absolute last thing the driver ahead would anticipate him doing. And for all you geniuses who think that Perez turned into him, he was moving to the right to begin accelerating ahead of the last corner to begin a flying lap. The last corner is a left, so the natural entry line is on the right.

It's not like Kevin is an angel on track. The only reason he has mirrors on his car, is to generate airflow.

Nice to see they implemented a "minimum speed limit on track" after the last races farce. Ooh look, it was the pink cars fault... AGAIN!

Once again Perez being a 🔔🔚 in Singapore! Must be something in the air

Perez wanted room to start a hotlap and Mag did not cede this space, so the touch... If Mag wasn't around fast, you should have facilitated Perez's work!

I won't even bother trying to explain this one, as 99% of the fan base clearly expect the drivers to treat the racetrack like a highway.

Magnussen is probably the first driver in the history of F1 that managed to anger every driver on the grid, says it all tbf what kind of driver he is, like what the hell?😂

These two worth each other, only Grosjean is "better'! 😉 :v

Perez doing great in Singapore putting people in the wall as usual. Slim’s money is the only reason he’s still in a car.

This was all mags fault in my opinion. Checo was just about to start his flying lap for. Qual sim run.

Perez is always doing this even on the last race in Singapore he did that to Ocon

Not a mistake,, deliberate. Perez loves being a d***k. Deserved a Pen

The track was clear on the other side, but he loves sandwiches

Actually is a qualy lap in f1 2019 game start the qualy and that moment a car exit

I swear a lot of you twats don’t even know the rules set by the stewards so you just comment just for the hell of it.

Both pay drivers.....

Small mistake but worth a 3 place penalty

Haas has issues with the car and the drivers.

What is with these Haas guys, consistently getting into trouble with others/each other
