Losail, Jan 14th 2014 – The third round of Porsche GT3 CUP Challenge Middle East will be held this weekend under the floodlights of Losail International Circuit.
It is the third year that the Qatari track is included in the racing calendar and this year it will be the first year that Losail hosts two rounds, 17th and 18th January and 31st January and 1st February.
According to the provisional entry list, a total of 18 cars will take part in this third round. The defendant champion, Clemens Schmidt from Al Nabooda Racing is leading the standings with 98 points. The Austrian driver has started the season with excellent results, with 3 victories and one second place. The Emirati driver Hasher Al Maktoum from Skydive Dubai Falcons is second with 74 points.
The time schedule is the same for the 2 days activity: Free and Qualifying practices are scheduled at 16:00 and 18:00 and race will be at 20:45.
Together with the round of Porsche GT3 CUP Challenge ME, there will be also the second round of Qatar Challenge at Losail. After the first round that took place on October, the leader is the British driver David Walker with 30 points. Rhodelin Senga and Peter de Vido are both in second place with 18 points. The Qatar Challenge race will be on Saturday at 19:15.

Walter Lechner, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East, said: “The Losail International Circuit provides a different challenge for the drivers under the lights and tests even the most experienced of drivers. With the series at the half-way stage, it promises to be another second half where the pressure will increase all the drivers as they look to produce their best in every race.
