Dubai, UAE. 27 Oct 2010: New kid on the block Saad Salman and his team, Sayel Racing, placed an impressive 4th place in the debut race of the UAE GT Championship, racing in their distinctively Palestinian KTM X-Bow. This impressive result comes despite being bumped down three places after a minor technical infringement during qualifying, where he placed an even more impressive 2nd place.

Sayel Racing – sponsored and supported by Palestine Electric Company and Morganti – rattled the cages of the more experienced teams throughout the race weekend.

“We are very pleased with our result and the experience we have gained in our first race despite our little setback during qualifying” said Salman. “We hope that with a little more experience and hard work we will achieve even better results and focus on consistency throughout the season”.

In what turned out to be an exciting and nerve wracking race for the young team, Sayel Racing are now more confident that their KTM X-Bow can produce results throughout the remainder of the championship. “This is the first time the KTM X-Bow has been run in the UAE GT Championship, and while it gained a lot of attention because of its unorthodox design, we were a little nervous as to how it would perform on race day, thankfully our expectations were met and even a little exceeded on the national circuit of the Dubai Autodrome,”.

Dedicating their inaugural race to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan in recognition of his lifelong support for Palestine and the Palestinian cause, Sayel Racing’s team co-ordinator Sima Farouki expressed pride in their choice of tribute. “The late Sheikh Zayed was one of the leading humanitarians of our time, dedicating a lot of support, both financial and moral,  to the Palestinian cause and the unity of Arab nations. Ultimately, dedicating what we feel to be a great result to a great man like Sheikh Zayed turned out to be an added bonus for us,” she said.
