Dubai Nov 4th -Aspiring Emirati racing kart driver Haytham Sultan Al Ali completes his debut in Formula racing. As part of the Dubai Motorsport Festival racing took place at Dubai Autodrome in UAE where Haytham entered his first ever race weekend in the new Formula style slicks and wings car.
This race event proved to be a real challenge for the young driver as he took his place on the grid against some of Asias finest top racing talents.
Proudly promoting the UAE Sprit of the Nation design on his car Haytham commented “I have included the National Day design as it is important to support our great nation in all that we do in our sport.”
“I am also promoting the Road Safety campaign backed by the Ministry of Interior and have signed the charter to highlight the dangers of using mobile phones whilst driving, this is a very important strong message for all our drivers to take notice of this warning,” he continued
The two day race weekend brought challenges of familiarisation with the International 4.2km circuit as well as the dynamics of a new race vehicle.
Haytham is normally more at home racing in Karts on a far smaller circuit and has made the step up to the Formula Gulf 1000 series. His fellow competitors have considerable experience previously in International single seater categories, undeterred Haytham put in a great performance with only a few seconds gap between them.
Free practice and qualifying offered Haytham and his team an opportunity to finally put in some testing with the car and make the set up required for all new drivers at this level of competition. Steadily improving on performance Haytham got to grips with the technical side of the car with all the new controls and warning lights on the steering wheel to observe. Haytham quickly felt comfortable with the new car and put in some considerable laps with improvements throughout the two day race weekend.
Indian Formula Renault driver Zaamin Jaffer took the win in the first race with Lebanese GT ace Joe Ghanem taking the second race win.
“Theres a lot more to learn from my side to fully appreciate all the small details that make up a perfect lap and it is my goal to train as hard as possible to achieve the best results,” said Haytham
During Haytham’s week long campaign to promote the Formula Gulf series he spent time promoting the Cars 2 DVD launch alongside sponsors DisneyPixar at the Mall of Emirates where hundreds of children received signed posters from the young driver.
Haytham expressed his grateful thanks to the support from several key sponsors who supported him during this event “I would like to personally thank all my sponsor partners for making this such a successful race event, including, Emirates Motorsport Federation, Ajman Land, F1Yacht, Al Shezawy Group, 5th Cut, Al Hamad Aluminium Extrusions, Verona, Al Kawthar Factory, Layan Gallery, Top Speed Performance, UAE Professionals Club, Express and XSport Motorsports.
