Raed Raffii is on his way to test in Australia

Bahrain International Circuit, ‘The Home of Motorsport in the Middle East’ proudly announces the upcoming departure of Chevrolet Supercars Middle East driver Raed Raffii for Australia, where he will conduct an exclusive test with a V8 Supercars team.

Raed, along with Sherif Al Mahdy, Chevrolet Supercars Middle East Championship manager, are scheduled to arrive at Gold Coast, Queensland, on July 14, ahead of his two-day test at Queensland Raceway on July 15 and 16.

Raed will be holding his tests under the close supervision of V8 Supercars team Paul Morris Motorsport.

The testing will include time at the race school on day one, followed by a 30-lap session at Queensland Raceway on day two.

Greg Murphy and Russell Ingall, Paul Morris Motorsport drivers, will be present for Raed’s track sessions.

Raed commented: “It’s going to be a great experience and an important challenge, and I can’t wait for it. This is going to be a trip of a lifetime for me.”

Raed said that he expects the tests to be tough, but he is looking forward to overcoming all obstacles and learning at the highest level.

“I expect it to be nothing like I’ve ever done before,” he said. “For one thing, I will be sitting on the right side and shifting gears with my left hand, so that would be something completely new for me.”

Raed was given the opportunity to test by fellow competitor and friend, Fahad Al Musalam, the double champion of the Chevrolet Supercars Middle East Championship.

Fahad was given a similar testing opportunity after winning his first Chevrolet title, so he gladly donated this second chance to his younger countryman.

“I have been talking to Fahad a lot about what he went through,” Raed said. “I have also been reading up a lot and watching videos on the internet to help get ready. I think I’m completely mentally prepared for it.”

Raed added that he has learned a lot form the advice Fahad has so far given. “He has given me plenty of useful tips,” he said. “The most important thing was to be gentle on the throttle. He told me to go very sensitive and not to slam on it like what we do here with our Chevrolet Supercars.”
