Class 2 podium , Winner, Rupesh Channake, Left - Abulla Al Hammadi and Right - Jonathan Mullan

13 December 2013-Shannon Ward was the big winner in the NGK Racing Series during the UAE National Race Day at Dubai Autodrome, on Friday 13 December, winning both races while Rupesh Channake and Alexandros Annivas also enjoyed double wins in their respective classes on an action packed day.

Ward, driving a KTM X-Bow, turned out comfortable winner in Race 1 but in race two he was chased hard by Costas Papantonis, who was driving an unfamiliar Opel Astra after gearbox problems sidelined his Gulf Petrochem SEAT. Ward nevertheless took top honours with Papantonis second overall.

The big battle of the day was between Honda drivers Rupesh Channake, Abulla Al Hammadi and Jonathan Mullan, the trio almost inseparable in Class 2 all day long. In the end Channake had the edge to win both races, with Mullan second in the first race and third in Race 2.

Al Hammadi bounced back in the second race to finish runner-up in Class 2, behind Channake but ahead of Mullan – the top three crossing the finish line in single file, a couple of seconds separating them.

Gulf Petrochem Renault Clio driver Alexandros Annivas was too good on the day claiming two wins in the Clio Cup class, with Simon Dennis and Peter England second and third respectively in both races.

The next round of the NGK Racing Series takes place on 24-25 January 2014 at Dubai Autodrome.
