Abu Dhabi, UAE, 26th March: Palestinian duo Saad Salman and Rasheed Nashashibi finished in 3rd place in the eighth and final race of the UAE GT Championship, held at the Yas Marina Circuit last weekend, securing a top 3 finish in both the team and driver championship standings.
Nashashibi, a Palestinian driver based in Jerusalem, shared the one hour long race with Salman. “We are very proud to have shared this race with Rasheed” said Salman, “He performed brilliantly, and we feel this is further testament to Palestinian talent in the world of motorsport.”
Sayel Racing qualified in first place the day before the race, however minor braking issues hindered the team’s performance on race day. Despite this problem, both drivers were able to post some of the best lap times in their class.
“I was really pleased with my performance given that it’s the first time I drive the KTM and my first time on the Yas Marina Circuit. Of course I’d like to thank Saad and the Sayel Racing team for this opportunity”
President of the Palestinian Motorsport and Motorcycle Federation, Khaled Qaddoura, also attended the race in honor of the efforts by Sayel Racing to unite and promote Palestinian drivers. “We have to thank Mr Qaddoura for taking the time to attend our race and for his support. It was a great end to the season and having him here proved to us that our hard work is moving in the right direction.” said Salman.
