Dubai, UAE. 11 March 2011: Trouble has once again struck Palestinian team Sayel Racing after another crash on the last lap of the 7th race of the UAE GT Championship. The incident occurred after a competing driver came in contact with the KTM X-Bow on turn 14 of the Dubai Autodrome. Thankfully both drivers emerged unharmed from the incident.
However, this hasn’t dampened the mood amongst the Sayel Racing members. “Sure it’s unfortunate that this happened again, but we look forward to participating in our final race at the Yas Marina Circuit.” said Team Coordinator Sima Farouki.
Qualifying in third place earlier that day, Sayel Racing were keen on gaining points to make up for retiring the last race. This latest incident means that the team again does not receive any points for their efforts. Sayel Racing currently stands 2nd and 4th in the team and drivers’ championship standings respectively.
“We’re optimistic about finishing in the top 3 in both the team and drivers’ championship.” said Salman, “we’re very proud of that result especially that it’s our debut season and given what has happened the last two races.”
“We came into the UAE GT Championship for the joy of competing and to show that we are a force to be reckoned with. We’re going to focus on our final race at the Yas Marina Circuit and give it our all.” added Salman.
Sayel Racing will be competing in their 8th and final race of the UAE GT Championship on March 25th at the Yas Marina Circuit.
