Abu Dhabi, UAE. 12 February 2011: Palestinian team, Sayel Racing, secured their first ever win at the Yas Marina circuit this weekend where the second half of the UAE GT Championship season kicked off.

A thrilling race saw Saad Salman beat out heavyweights Robert Cregan in the Maserati and the pairing of Paul Denby and Harris Irfan in the Porsche Cup Car.

Qualifying in 4th place on Friday, Salman was able to come into the mandatory pit stop in 3rd place after overtaking the Aston Martin of Al Muheiri. Soon after coming out of the pits, Salman quickly took first place and was able to hold on to the lead position till he crossed the finish line with a 3 second lead over Cregans Maserati.

“We’re ecstatic” said Salman “To win at the Yas Marina Circuit with all these great drivers competing in GTC is a great accomplishment for our team and we couldn’t have asked for a better race.”

Anxiously watching the screens in the pits, the team erupted into cheers as Salman crossed the finish line. “It was an incredible race, we couldn’t be more proud of the way Saad drove that race. Celebrations are definitely on our to-do list” said team coordinator Sima Farouki.

Round 6 of the UAE GT Championship continues on February 25th at the Dubai Autodrome and the young team are adamant on keeping their feet on the ground. “Our strategy of focusing on development as opposed to immediate results seems to be paying off.  We have our sponsors – PEC and Morganti – to thank for that as well as our great technical team at AUH Motorsports” said Salman.
