Dubai- Jul 1st – Fabienne Lanz is taking her racing career to the next level as she prepares for the new Formula Gulf 1000 Championship.
Since she was nine, Fabienne Lanz has lived for karting and racing in Formula One is her ultimate objective. She has notched up over a decade of experience in karting championships all over the world, she is the reigning 2009 Northern Regions Kart Champion in South Africa for the third year, and was ranked third in the South African Engen SupaKart Championship.
Fabienne has also raced successfully in Rotax DD2, Bridgestone Cup and the Vortex Super ROK World Grand Finals in Italy, where she finished an incredible 5th and made history by becoming the first female on the podium.
Fabienne has shown that she is also a great endurance racing driver as she made history at the Nivea for Men 24hr kart endurance at Dubai Kartdrome in December 2009, as she became the first lady to qualify on pole position, she also set the fastest lap of the race and helped her team clinch a podium place in third.
In March 2010, Fabienne raced at the COSE 24hr Endurance race at Jesolo Kart track in Italy, where she joined an all girls team, again making history by clinching Pole position. Lanz has tested in a Formula VW in South Africa in December 2009, proving successful and fuelling her desire for Formula racing.
Fabienne is also part of a working group in South Africa called ‘Women In Motorsport’ working closely with her ASN to promote the female interest in motorsport. In her spare time she coaches young kart drivers and offers her expert guidance.
“This Championship is ideal for me as the weather is very favourable to my racing in South Africa, and the season will compliment my international karting perfectly” Lanz commented
This will be the first full season of Formula racing for Lanz and being the only girl listed for the series does not deter her.

Fabienne has motorsports in her blood, her father, Peter Lanz, a UAE based Motorsports Consultant, has raced for nearly 40 years in production and touring cars, winning several international titles, Fabienne is supported by a professional team and has full support and encouragement from all her family.
About Formula Gulf 1000 Championship
Formula Gulf 1000 (www.FG1000.net) is a one-make single seater championship aimed at Arabian Gulf based young racing drivers and karters who wish to graduate to cars. Featuring identical slicks and wings ‘Formula’ racing cars maintained and run by GulfSport Racing (www.gulf-sport.com), FG1000 will focus on the development of driving skills, improvement of fitness and providing media skills required at the highest levels of motor racing. Competitors will be trained by some of the industry’s most experienced driver coaches. Drivers will have three official tests before competing in 16 races over 8 events at the Yas Marina and Dubai Autodrome circuits.
The overall winner of the 2010/11 FG1000 Championship will win a scholarship to compete in Formula Renault BARC in the UK, where their training and race experience will ensure that a second championship win is entirely feasible.
