Sean Babington heads off to Le Mans – France for the KZ2 Super Cup

Dubai based karting ace Sean Babington travels to Le Mans this weekend 10-13 September – to compete in Round 3 of the CIK-FIA International KZ2 Super Cup.

The Energy UAE Kart Team driver will take time off his coaching duties in Dubai, where he is actively preparing Energy drivers for the forthcoming UAE Rotax Max Championship, and will take on the cream of international kart drivers in a category in which the likes of Max Verstappen made his name.

Speaking ahead of the weekend France, Babington said: “It’s at the new track inside Le Mans and I’ll be racing with the Energy factory team alongside seven other drivers from Italy, Spain America and Sweden.”

“I’ll be racing under a UAE license and be representing the UAE. I have been competing in the European KZ2 championships but some bad luck with mechanical failures and the odd crash only saw me taking a 6th, 7th, 9th and 11th in the finals after leading and finishing top three in previous heats them weekends,” he explained.

“I had a test last week in Le Mans at the official test for the world championships and we showed great pace so we are looking forward to next week and hope that we can have a good weekend,” added Babington.

19th and 20th December 2018.

GulfSport Racing announces a unique opportunity for experienced racing drivers to gain amazing seat time in their 186bhp slicks and wings single seater race cars alongside European F4 drivers preparing for UAE F4.

You will drive the floodlit circuit on two evenings. You will work with top international driver coach Andy Pardoe in all sessions using data and video and you will be engineered by GulfSport’s Martin Hope. Using the same Hankook slick tyres as the F4 cars, on a lighter chassis and with more power, lap times will be comparable.
