Riyadh, Wednesday, Oct 28th 2014 – Following on from his successful class win with the Ferrari 458 GT3 at the 24hrs of Dubai in January, aspiring Saudi M-Team driver Mohammed Jawa is excited to announce his team’s latest entry in the highly contested Porsche GT3 Middle East Cup this coming season.
“I had the chance to race the new 991 Porsche GT3 in March and during the support race at the Bahrain Gulf Air F1 Grand Prix in April, which gave me a perfect opportunity to get some experience aboard the car and I feel confident to enter the full championship this season,’’ said Mohammed.
In preparation for the season ahead Mohammed, joined by M-Team coach Michael Vergers, have both been undertaking intensive fitness training to ready themselves for the coming season.
Also during the past few weeks Mohammed and Michael took part in private test sessions with both Radical SR3 and Ferrari 458 Challenge cars at Yas Marina Circuit.
‘’It felt really great to get back in the racing seat after such a long hot summer break. We managed to achieve our goals in testing and I feel confident and ready for the new season, it’s not going to be easy, but we can prepare our bodies and minds to focus on the challenge ahead, I’m really excited to get going now,’’ enthused Mohammed.
Racing identical fifth generation Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars, the series will consist of 12 races between November 2014 and April 2015. Six intensely competitive race round weekends will be staged at the region’s leading circuits with two rounds in Bahrain, two in the United Arab Emirates and two in Qatar over a six month period. The first race will be a night race on the 14th November 2014 at the Bahrain International Circuit as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship weekend. Again the championship will form part of the official race weekend schedule to support the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix in April 2015.
