Abu Dhabi, UAE (4 May 2010): An Etihad Airways Airbus A320 dwarfs a Formula Yas 3000 racing car as it lifts off at 256 km/h at Abu Dhabi international airport to mark the take-off of ticket sales for the 2011 Formula 1TM Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Forty per cent of grandstand tickets for the event had been purchased by the end of the first week of global sales.
Tickets went on sale last Thursday (28 April) and initial demand was strongest from the UAE and Europe. The race will take place at Yas Marina Circuit on 11-13 November.
“We’re very pleased with the high level of demand for tickets,” said Richard Cregan, Chief Executive Officer of Yas Marina Circuit. “The Grand Prix has become an important part of the sporting and social calendar in the UAE. Ticket prices have been held at the same level as last year and we are very encouraged by the initial response.”
