Red Bull X-Fighters: High tricks in front of Burj Al Arab as riders warm up ahead of Fridays performance

The championship opens on Friday (8 p.m. local time) with the world’s best Freestyle motocross athletes riding motocross machines on a course set up in the Arab metropolis’s grand Jumeirah Beach.

DUBAI (United Arab Emirates) – Some 15,000 fans are expected on Friday at the Sand Palace in the Arabian Gulf. “It’s a phenomenal setting. Jumping right in front of the sea is going to be a challenge for everyone because it’s really hard to predict where the wind is coming from,“ said multi world record holder Ronnie Renner (USA) after the “warm up“ along the beach in front of the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab that was completed in 1999.

The desert jewel picked an extraordinary location for its debut hosting of the Red Bull X-Fighters. FMX heroes, including defending champion Nate Adams (USA), Andre Villa (NOR), Dany Torres (ESP) and world renown Australian Robbie Maddison, will be performing their jumps and tricks on Friday evening directly on Jumeirah Beach.

The six FMX events in the 2011 season are scattered around the globe on four continents. After Dubai the Red Bull X-Fighters will move on to South America. The Red Bull X-Fighters will be jumping in the Brazilian capital Brasilia for the first time, on the “Streets of the Ministries“ (28 May). There will also be stadium events in an intimate atmosphere in Europe in Rome (24 June), Madrid (15 July) and in the new European soccer championship stadium in Warsaw (6 August). The final showdown will take place on the “fifth continent“ in Australia (17 September).

Red Bull X-Fighters in Dubai is supported by du, as part of its newly launched entertainment platform ‘du Live!’, which brings to the UAE the best events in a ‘live’ format throughout the year.

The event is with the cooperation of Audi, Swatch, The Walk and the Dubai Sports Council, as well as with the collaboration of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing.

Tickets sales at and in all Virgin Megastores across the UAE.
